Today was a GREAT day at the WUE! 💜
We hope your child enjoyed their first day of school and is excited and ready for Day 2 tomorrow!
As we wrapped up our first day, we had nearly 400 cars picking up students from the WUE. As many of you saw firsthand, that number of vehicles can create slower-moving lines, traffic congestion, and backups onto Hall Road.
🚌 PLEASE USE BUS TRANSPORTATION IF POSSIBLE
Whenever possible, we strongly encourage families to have their child ride the school bus to and from school. Utilizing bus transportation helps us significantly reduce the number of vehicles on campus and allows arrival and dismissal to be safer, quicker, and more efficient for everyone.
We completely understand that riding the bus is not an option for every family. However, if bus transportation is an option for your child, we kindly ask that you consider using it. Every car we can remove from the pickup and drop-off lines makes a difference!
Finally, THANK YOU for your patience and understanding today as we worked through first-day bussing, arrival, and dismissal. The first few days always take a little extra time as everyone learns the routines, and we appreciate everyone working together to help things run smoothly.

If you are dropping off your student in the morning, students must remain in their vehicles until Mr. G blows the whistle at 8:05 a.m. This procedure is in place for everyone’s safety. If you arrive early, please enter the drop-off line and wait for the whistle before allowing your student to exit.
For the first week of school, car riders will be released at 3:10 p.m. to help improve the flow of afternoon traffic.

Now that student schedules are viewable, we want to help families better understand what they mean. With several teachers, subjects, and class periods listed, schedules can feel a little confusing at first!
Attached, you will find a breakdown of both a 5th-grade and 6th-grade schedule, along with an explanation of how to read each one. We hope this guide makes your child’s schedule easier to understand as we prepare for the first day of school!

Families are welcome to walk through the school, locate classrooms, and help students feel more comfortable before the first day.
