As educators and community members, we have the responsibility to teach our students the values of compassion, strength, and togetherness—reminding them of the heroes who gave everything and the families who continue to carry their legacy.
Together, we stand united in remembrance and in hope for a future built on peace and understanding. 🕊️

The public can vote once daily for free at https://athleteoftheyear.org/2025/carmela-0938. In addition, supporters can also purchase votes, which count as charitable donations supporting two remarkable causes:
The V Foundation for Cancer Research, whose mission is to fund the best scientists and accelerate Victory Over Cancer®
The Why Not You Foundation, co-founded by Russell Wilson, which empowers youth to become tomorrow’s leaders
“This competition is more than just a title — it's an opportunity to rally around Carmela and raise awareness and funding for two critical missions,” said Christine Roberts, Carmela’s mother. "She works so hard in and out of the gym and now she’s hoping our community can help her cross the finish line.”
Carmela has already inspired many with her athletic accomplishments, work ethic, and community spirit. Being named Youth Athlete of the Year would be a major milestone — and every vote counts.
Voting for the next round opens 9/8 at 1pm, and the quarterfinal round is from Sept 8-18th, followed by semifinals and final rounds!

Thanks for staying connected with the WUE!

If your child is not in band or choir (you can see if they are on their schedule online), and that was something that you wanted them to be in, we need to know by this Friday, 9.5.25.
We can not do any other schedule changes after Friday, so please make sure that if that was something you were wanting for your child, and they do not have it on their schedule, that you reach out to the WUE and ask to speak to the Counseling Dept, so we can make that change.
Our goal is to make sure all students have band and or choir if they have the desire to be in it.
Remember this is for 6TH GRADE STUDNETS ONLY.

We hope that your child came home with a smile, as we did our best to make sure they were seen and felt valuable.
There were a couple of areas that were not so perfect, but that come with a new school year.
The first area was bussing:
We appreciate your patience as the drivers go through these new routes. The first couple of days are always a little slower, but I promise you it gets better.
We also ask that you double check with your child each day, to ensure they know if they are getting picked up or taking the bus. Today we had a couple of confused students, so this extra step will help us make sure your child goes to the right exit for dismissal.
The second area was pick up and drop off:
Drop off this morning went very well and nearly everyone had the routine down, and things ran smooth.
The afternoon was a little bumpy, so we just want to remind everyone that we have a video that you can watch if you want to see the process in action.
Video Link: https://youtu.be/5WeUDxn3Tfo?si=cIpeOJT6qgUZo6ta
Also, at the end of the day, students need to picked up in Lanes 1 or 2. Please do not pick up your students in other areas of the parking lot or on Hall Road. Our number one goal, is your child's safety, so we ask that you please pick them up after you turn into Lane 1 or 2.
Finally, please talk to your student about using the crosswalk and not running across all 3 lanes to get to their ride.
Again, we want to make sure they are safe, and this step is the most important.
Thank you again for being a part of the WUE.
We will see you tomorrow!

🚌 A Friendly Reminder: Patience with Bus Transportation 🚌
As we move through the first weeks of school, we want to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. Afternoon bus routes (and likely the remainder of this week) may run later than expected as students, families, and staff adjust to new routines and heavier traffic around our schools.
Our transportation team has been diligently preparing—drivers have been practicing these routes for over a week and are very familiar with them. It will, however, take a week or two before bus stop times consistently align with the posted schedules.
We appreciate your support as we work to ensure that all students get to and from school safely. Safety is always our top priority, and with time, the routes will smooth out and timing will become more reliable.
Thank you for your patience and partnership!
