This year, we’re shining a spotlight on those special staff members who truly exemplify what it means to be a Warrior through our new Heart of a Warrior recognition.
Each month, one or more WBSD staff members will be honored for the dedication, kindness, leadership, compassion, teamwork and countless other ways they make our district a better place. Each honoree will also receive an Amazon gift card as a small token of our appreciation.
🌟 Congratulations to our first two Heart of a Warrior honorees of the 2026-27 school year: Kelsey Smith and Melanie Shockley!
Kelsey leads by example, encouraging students and staff to challenge themselves, stay active and keep going when things get tough. Her dedication reaches far beyond the gym, helping build confidence, self-esteem and resilience in those around her.
Mel is the person who is always there to help. From supporting students and families to solving problems behind the scenes, she brings patience, kindness and a welcoming smile to everything she does. So much of what she contributes may happen quietly, but it makes a tremendous difference every day.
These two Warriors remind us that making a difference doesn't always mean being in the spotlight. Sometimes, it's simply showing up, lending a hand and helping others be their best.

WHS Girls Varsity Volleyball team swept Allen Park High School last night! The match scores were 2523; 25-20 and 25-21. way to go, Warriors! The student athletes play Taylor at home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for Senior Night!
WHS students from the Warrior Wake Up aka the Brew Crew visited the Board of Education office this morning with coffee and purple tea for staff to enjoy! The Brew Crew makes their debut next week at WHS as they prepare, sell and distribute drinks to staff weekly.

The Woodhaven Warrior Marching Band is trading the football field for your street! Our students will be marching and playing through local neighborhoods to raise money to help support our amazing band program.

The 2026 Homecoming was one to remember, Marching band kicking us off with the alma mater, Choir with an outstanding performance of the National Anthem, Big thanks to Student Council advisor Ms. Konstantinidis, Student Council President Hope Noal, Class President Chiamara Ogbanna, and Megan Shrewsburg for emceeing the assembly. Captains Jon Jon and Drew Migs introducing the football team, Noise meter competition, crowning of the king, Jaiden Dunnigan won the rock paper scissors bead competition. Amelia Francis won the spirit queen competition. The traditional Tug of War competition. Amazing Cheer team performance (Coach Kaylen Murphy), Wonderful Dance team performance (Coach Courtney Linton), Balloon and potato relay race. The ending was with all the seniors on the court together for their last HOCO pep assembly and announcing and singing their class song, Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. Now that is Warrior STRONG

What a night to be a Warrior!
The Woodhaven High School Homecoming festivities kicked off Friday afternoon with a spirited pep assembly, where Julian Cardona was crowned Homecoming King. Then the celebration continued with the Homecoming Parade at 5 p.m., as students, families, staff and community members lined the streets to cheer on the Warriors.
At 7 p.m., it was time for Friday Night Lights — and the Warriors brought the heat! 🏈

At halftime, the celebration continued as Senior Class President Chiamara Ogbonna was crowned Homecoming Queen. 👑
And tonight, the celebration continues as nearly 1,300 students gather at Woodhaven High School for the Homecoming Dance.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this such a memorable Homecoming — our incredible students, families, staff, the Woodhaven band, and the entire community who came out to celebrate and cheer on our Warriors.
And what a gift to have such a beautiful evening for it all. Perfect weather, school spirit, Friday night football and a community coming together.
