Dear TOTE and WBSD Families,
We're excited to share a wonderful opportunity for children with complex communication and language needs this winter holiday season!
Wayne RESA Assistive Technology, together with staff from various Wayne County districts and local schools, are partnering to make play more accessible for all kids. Through this effort, families can request and receive one adapted toy and a single button switch for your child—free of charge!
If you're interested, please complete the short form linked below by November 7.

It's National School Bus Safety Week - Want extra peace of mind when your student rides the bus? 🚍
The Woodhaven-Brownstown School District offers the Zonar Z-Pass, which allows students to scan when they board and exit the bus.

Last week, our young scientists explored all things pumpkins — measuring how tall they were, counting their lines, testing whether they sink or float, and making estimations before digging in to count seeds (by 10s, of course!). 🧡
Hands-on learning like this helps our students explore, discover, and have fun while learning! #WarriorWay #GudithElementary #PumpkinScience

Our district is proud to partner with the Woodhaven Kiwanis Club for the Annual An Apple for Ryan food drive — honoring the legacy of Ryan Sergent by helping families in need across the Downriver community. 🥫💜
All WBSD schools — Bates, Erving, Gudith, Wegienka, Yake, Woodhaven Upper Elementary, Brownstown Middle, and Woodhaven High — are collecting non-perishable, kid-friendly foods.
As pantry demand continues to rise, every donation makes a difference. Let’s show the Warrior Way by giving back! 💪

We “caught” some students at Woodhaven Upper Elementary School enjoying a good book! Whether they’re reading for fun, exploring new worlds, or learning something new, it’s clear our Warriors love to read. 💜
Keep turning those pages, Warriors — every great reader starts with one good book! #NationalLibraryMonth #WUEWarriors #ReadingRocks #WoodhavenBrownstownSD

Eighth grade students in Ms. Schefsky and Mrs. Banker’s science classes recently participated in a frog dissection lab. Through this hands-on activity, students explored the different body systems of a frog and discovered how many of them closely relate to those found in humans.
A special shoutout to first-year teacher Ms. Schefsky for diving right in and engaging her students in this unique learning opportunity! What an amazing way to spark curiosity and make science come alive. 🔬💜

🌟 Student Spotlight! 🌟
Evelyn Nichols, a 4th grader at Bates Elementary, was recognized at last night's WBSD Board of Education meeting for going above and beyond while riding the bus with a substitute driver. As the designated Safety, Evelyn took full charge of the seating process - guiding each student row by row to ensure everyone was properly seated.
Her leadership, maturity, and calm direction made the ride smoother and safer for everyone on board. 👏
Now that’s a student who truly knows the Warrior Way - showing responsibility, respect, and pride wherever she goes! 💜💛
