🌎✨ Legacy in the Library!
Before heading off to Woodhaven Upper Elementary, Erving 4th graders left behind a dazzling Earth Day tribute—a chandelier-style sculpture made entirely from recycled water bottles. 💧🎨
Guided by art teacher Mrs. Sordini and inspired by Dale Chihuly’s “Fireworks of Glass,” this vibrant, school-colored installation now hangs in the Erving library as a symbol of creativity, collaboration, and care for the planet. 💜💚
🖌️ “This 4th grade work reflects the spirit of comradery that exists between our students and demonstrates how working together for a common cause can create something meaningful and lasting,” said Mrs. Sordini.

On June 5, third grade students at Yake Elementary brought history to life during the school’s annual Presidential Wax Museum. The event showcased portrayals of U.S. Presidents and First Ladies—from George Washington to current President Donald Trump—performed by students in costume.
This third grade tradition is a highlight of the year that students and families alike enjoy. Leading up to the event, students engaged in a comprehensive learning experience. They conducted independent research, created informational posters, and practiced presenting their findings as part of a major class assignment. The project not only reinforced research and writing skills but also emphasized the importance of public speaking. Students learned how to maintain eye contact, use listening prompts, and speak confidently in front of an audience.
The Wax Museum continues to be a beloved event at Yake, bringing the past to life in a fun and meaningful way for the entire school community.

🎉📏✂️ Math comes to life at Gudith Elementary!
These fourth-grade students in the extended day math program, led by Mrs. Adams, took their learning beyond the textbook with an engaging, hands-on approach to fractions and measurement.
Through project-based learning, students explored adding and subtracting fractions, equivalent fractions, mixed numbers, and number lines - all while creating something special. They measured, cut, and sewed custom aprons for Mother's Day, then wrapped up the unit by measuring, mixing, and cooking a pancake breakfast! 🥞🧵💜
Way to go, Grizzlies! Learning is delicious when it’s this fun!

Celebrating Multilingual Excellence at Woodhaven High School!
We are so proud to announce that 13 incredible students from Woodhaven High School have earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy — and 5 of those students also achieved the Michigan Seal of Biliteracy!
What is the Seal of Biliteracy?
This prestigious recognition honors students who have demonstrated proficiency in two or more languages — a powerful achievement that showcases cultural understanding, communication skills, and global readiness. Earning the seal means these students can read, write, speak, and listen in more than one language at a high level. It’s more than just a certificate — it's a passport to new opportunities in college, careers, and beyond!
Being bilingual or multilingual is a superpower — and these students are proof of what’s possible when hard work, dedication, and passion come together.
Congratulations to our Woodhaven Warriors on this amazing accomplishment! You make us proud, and the world is yours! #SealOfBiliteracy #GlobalSeal #MichiganSeal

🎉 ¡Felicitaciones! Spanish 1 students at WHS and BMS just finished reading their very first book completely in Spanish — Berto y sus buenas ideas! 📚🇪🇸
Inspired by a mention of Pablo Picasso in the story, students took a deep dive into Cubism 🧠🎨. After learning about the famous painter’s style, they created their own Cubist portraits and brought them to life with watercolor! 🖌️💧
We’re so proud of their creativity and dedication — ¡Buen trabajo, estudiantes!
