🧪🎈 Learning was in full swing outdoors at Brownstown Middle School!

Last week, students in Ms. Schefsky’s 8th grade science class took their lab outside to investigate states of matter. Using frozen balloons, water balloons, and air-filled balloons, students compared solids, liquids, and gases to determine which state of matter appeared the most stable.

Through hands-on exploration, thoughtful observations, and engaging discussions, students tested their ideas and connected real-world experiences to their current science unit. Learning science has never been so cool! #BMSPride #HandsOnLearning #FutureScientists #WBSDExcellence

Brownstown Middle School students went to Boston, Massachusetts last week for an exciting and educational trip filled with learning and fun. Students explored historic sites connected to American history, including famous landmarks that brought classroom lessons to life. In addition to sightseeing, students had opportunities to bond with classmates, try new experiences, and make lasting memories. The trip was a wonderful success and gave students a deeper appreciation for the history and culture of Boston.

Not all heroes wear capes—some wear school colors and carry a walkie-talkie!

Today is National School Principal's Day, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate the 13 dedicated leaders who guide our schools every single day.

Whether they are navigating hallways, supporting our teachers, or cheering on our students from the sidelines, these individuals are the heartbeat of our district. Their leadership ensures that WBSD remains a place of growth, safety, and inspiration.

To our Team: Thank you for your tireless energy, your late nights, and your unwavering commitment to our kids. We appreciate everything you do!

Help us celebrate! Give a shoutout to your favorite principal in the comments below.

BMS Student Council Gives Back to Local Animal Shelters!

Our BMS Student Council recently hosted a donation week to support local animal shelters — and our students and staff responded with incredible generosity!

Thanks to our school community, we were able to deliver 3–4 large boxes of donated items to each shelter, helping provide much-needed supplies for animals in their care.

On Wednesday (4/15), Student Council members personally dropped off donations to shelters in Taylor, Romulus, Lincoln Park, Brownstown, Woodhaven-Trenton, and Flat Rock. While there, students even had the opportunity to spend time with some of the animals who will directly benefit from these contributions.

We are so proud of our students for showing leadership, compassion, and a true commitment to serving others. This is the Warrior Way in action!

Brownstown Middle School has something BIG to celebrate! 🎉 Through a collaboration with Mike Horback, Mr. Clark began the process of bringing a new BMS Spirit Rock to life—originally planned as part of a grant project he and Ms. Radtka received from the Woodhaven-Brownstown Education Foundation to enhance our outdoor spaces with benches, picnic tables, and more. After visiting Ashley Land Development to hand-pick the perfect boulder, our 5.63-ton Spirit Rock was delivered today by Whiskey River Trucking during lunchtime! But here’s the best part… 💜 In an incredible act of generosity, Ashley Land Development and Whiskey River Trucking teamed up to donate the rock to BMS—completely free! We are so grateful for these amazing community partners and can’t wait to start painting our new Spirit Rock soon. Stay tuned! 🎨🪨
