⚡ Learning to Make Connections at BMS! 💡

Students at Brownstown Middle School are lighting up their STEM electricity unit with hands-on learning! Using Snap Circuits, students explored electrical circuits by building their own working radios and discovering how electricity brings technology to life.

Then, they put their knowledge to work in a different way — creating special cards of thanks and appreciation, each featuring a light-up component! These thoughtful creations combined science, creativity and kindness to bring a little extra light to others.

At BMS, learning goes beyond the classroom — and sometimes, it even shines! 💜⚡ #WhyWBSD #STEM #BMS

Mr. Hloros’s US History Class recently participated in a Mock Trial. Students took on the roles of lawyers, witnesses, and judges to debate whether the farmers were justified in rebelling against the Massachusetts government. Through research, questioning, and debate, students explored both sides of the conflict.

🔬 Building, Teamwork & a Little Friendly Competition! 🏗️

Mrs. Banker’s 8th grade science students at Brownstown Middle School kicked off the school year with an engineering challenge!

Working in teams, students were tasked with building the tallest tower possible using only blocks, paper and scissors. Along the way, they reviewed important engineering concepts, including criteria, constraints and the engineering design process.

It was a great way to start the year—putting problem-solving, communication, creativity and collaboration to work while having a little fun!

☕ More Than Coffee: The BMS Coffee Cart Is Brewing Up Connections!

The BMS Coffee Cart is back for a new school year—and it’s serving up much more than coffee!

Each Thursday, students in Ms. Heather Henderson’s cross-categorical classroom work alongside their Peer-to-Peer buddies to take orders, prepare drinks and treats, complete receipts, make deliveries and practice valuable real-world job skills.

And on Fridays, Coffee Cart Express gives students another opportunity to work together while offering leftover items from Thursday for just $1!

From teamwork and communication to responsibility, confidence and building friendships, the Coffee Cart provides an authentic opportunity for students to learn, grow and contribute to their school community. Even better, proceeds from the Coffee Cart and BMS ice cream store help fund student field trips throughout the year. 💜

We’re excited to see what another year of the BMS Coffee Cart brings!
