✨🍽 Fine dining... elementary style! 🍽✨ Each year, Sodexo partners with our elementary schools to host a special fine dining experience for select students. Principals nominate students for a variety of reasons - perfect attendance, academic excellence, or sometimes just because a student needs a special moment to shine. At Yake Elementary’s event on April 24, students enjoyed an upscale 3-course meal complete with table service, soft music, and lessons in fine dining etiquette. Chef Chris Brown added an extra touch of magic this year by preparing tableside caesar salads and torching crème brûlée right in front of the students - such a hit! 🔥🍮 Our young diners dressed to impress, learned which fork goes with which course, and were joined by their principals for this unforgettable meal. The Brownstown Middle School Service Squad wanted to express their appreciation to the many people who support them behind the scenes. They made special buttons to show their gratitude to administrators, administrative assistants, the BMS school nurse, the maintenance team, and the Special Services Department. Students also extended their thanks to the transportation staff by creating thoughtful cards and including M&Ms—symbolizing the Miles & Miles they drive safely every day. There are so many individuals who contribute to our school community, and we wish we could thank each and every one of them!

🌍💚 Mrs. Stephens’ Kindergarten Scientists at Erving Elementary had a blast celebrating Earth Day! 🚀 Our Brownstown Middle School 8th grade students recently visited the Downriver Campus of Wayne County Community College to explore the amazing high school programs available through WBSD’s partnership with the Downriver Career and Technical Consortium (DCTC)! Students attended 12 rotations, learning about a wide variety of exciting programs — from Criminal Justice and Agriscience to Mechatronics, Education, Automotive Technology, and more! It was a fun and eye-opening experience, and students learned an important takeaway: Passing all their classes in 9th and 10th grade is key to being able to take advantage of these valuable career programs as upperclassmen. Last week, the halls of WBSD schools were buzzing with excitement as we welcomed some extra special guests for Take Your Child to Work Day! Kids had the unique opportunity to step into their parents’ shoes, lend a helping hand, and even enjoy some hands-on learning experiences. At WHS, our young visitors explored the dental lab, food lab, and more—jumping into fun, interactive activities across the building. It was a memorable day filled with smiles, curiosity, and Warrior pride!

💰 Real-Life Lessons for WHS Seniors! 🧾 On April 21, Woodhaven High School seniors participated in the Financial Reality Fair, sponsored by Community Choice Credit Union. 💳💼 Students stepped into the "real world" by visiting stations that challenged them to balance a budget based on their chosen careers and lifestyle choices — from housing and transportation to groceries and entertainment. 🏠🚗🍕🎉 A big thank you to the community members and volunteers who shared their time and expertise to make this experience meaningful and memorable for our students. 🙌💜 #WarriorWay #WhyWBSD #WHSFutureReady #FinancialLiteracy #CommunityPartners #RealWorldReady
