🎶 The sound of inclusion is loud and clear at Woodhaven High School!
Through the United Sound program, 13 students with disabilities are paired with 32 peer mentors to learn, play, and perform music together — breaking down barriers and building lifelong friendships.
With support from Detroit Harmony and the leadership of WHS students Alex Vazquez and Miles Gawrych, this initiative is creating powerful change one note at a time. 💜🎺🥁
Catch their performance of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” at the Spring Concert on May 21 at 7 p.m. at WHS!

🎣 Smiles, sunshine, and a whole lot of fish (BIG and small)!
This year’s annual Woodhaven-Brownstown Rotary Fishing Trip was another unforgettable day on the water for WBSD students. With rods in hand and hearts full of joy, students from across the district teamed up with volunteers from the Rotary Club, Brownstown Professional Firefighters Union, Woodhaven Police Department, Advantage One Credit Union, Michael Bates Chevrolet, and other community partners to reel in some fun at the pond.
After fishing, students headed to Thorn Park in Brownstown for a hot dog picnic and play time — the perfect way to wrap up a day full of laughter and connection.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this experience one to remember! 🐟💜

🚌💜 All aboard for learning and growing!
As part of our TOTE “Ride a Bus” field trip through our Play Group program, nearly 30 toddlers had the opportunity to hop on a school bus — many for the very first time! Over two days, 14 children rode on the first day and 15 on the second, each accompanied by a loved one for a safe and supportive experience.
This special trip is designed to ease the transition from TOTE into school-based services by reducing anxiety and helping children feel comfortable with riding the bus and carrying a backpack. For many of our littlest learners, this was their first step toward building independence, confidence, and key socialization skills — all essential parts of early childhood development.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this experience fun, safe, and unforgettable! 💜🚌 #WBSDWay #EarlyChildhoodEducation #ConfidenceInKindergarten #TOTEPlayGroup

🪵👏 Woodhaven Craftsmanship on Display! 👏🪵
Our Woodhaven High School woodshop students recently wrapped up a hands-on project that combined creativity, skill, and precision - handcrafted wooden bowls!
From design to the final finish, students worked hard to shape, smooth, and polish their unique creations. This project taught them valuable lessons in patience, problem-solving, and the art of woodworking.
We’re so proud of their craftsmanship — great job, Warriors!
