Woodhaven-Brownstown School District is proud to celebrate the many multilingual students who bring their diverse languages, cultures and experiences to our schools. These linguistic and cultural assets enrich our classrooms and strengthen our entire school community.
Many of our multilingual learners participate each year in the WIDA ACCESS assessment, which measures academic English language skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
We are excited to celebrate our students at Woodhaven Upper Elementary (WUE) and Brownstown Middle School (BMS) who recently met the requirements to successfully pass the WIDA ACCESS assessment! Their hard work, perseverance and continued growth are accomplishments worth celebrating.

Every day, members of the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District team go above and beyond to make a difference for our students, families and one another.
This year, we’re shining a spotlight on those special staff members who truly exemplify what it means to be a Warrior through our new Heart of a Warrior recognition.
Each month, one or more WBSD staff members will be honored for the dedication, kindness, leadership, compassion, teamwork and countless other ways they make our district a better place. Each honoree will also receive an Amazon gift card as a small token of our appreciation.
🌟 Congratulations to our first two Heart of a Warrior honorees of the 2026-27 school year: Kelsey Smith and Melanie Shockley!
Kelsey leads by example, encouraging students and staff to challenge themselves, stay active and keep going when things get tough. Her dedication reaches far beyond the gym, helping build confidence, self-esteem and resilience in those around her.
Mel is the person who is always there to help. From supporting students and families to solving problems behind the scenes, she brings patience, kindness and a welcoming smile to everything she does. So much of what she contributes may happen quietly, but it makes a tremendous difference every day.
These two Warriors remind us that making a difference doesn't always mean being in the spotlight. Sometimes, it's simply showing up, lending a hand and helping others be their best.

WHS Girls Varsity Volleyball team swept Allen Park High School last night! The match scores were 2523; 25-20 and 25-21. way to go, Warriors! The student athletes play Taylor at home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for Senior Night!
WHS students from the Warrior Wake Up aka the Brew Crew visited the Board of Education office this morning with coffee and purple tea for staff to enjoy! The Brew Crew makes their debut next week at WHS as they prepare, sell and distribute drinks to staff weekly.

🚀 Building More Than Robots: WHS Robotics Receives $10,000 Community Investment
A chance conversation turned into a powerful partnership between the Woodhaven-Brownstown Rotary Club, Ford Woodhaven Stamping and Woodhaven High School Robotics!
The WHS Robotics team recently received a $10,000 donation through a Ford Philanthropy Grant for the Woodhaven community. Rotary members and Woodhaven Stamping volunteers also spent time in the robotics shop helping students assemble more than 300 hands-on engineering kits that will be used to bring STEM learning to third-grade classrooms throughout WBSD.
The kits will allow students to explore the physics and engineering behind building a catapult—all while developing curiosity, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
But the evening was about more than assembling kits. Community partners had the opportunity to meet our middle and high school robotics students, tour their shops and see firsthand the enthusiasm, leadership and mentorship that make our robotics program so special.

Woodhaven Warrior Marching Band March-a-Thon is this weekend! Get ready to see the WHS Marching Band in your neighborhood!
Woodhaven-Brownstown School District is dedicated to offering community enrichment to our local communities, beginning with programs at Woodhaven High School.
These free programs are open to Woodhaven or Brownstown residents, district employees and WBSD students and their families. Participants should park outside the Athletic entrance on the east side of Woodhaven High School. Programs will be held at Brownstown Middle School on Fridays and Woodhaven High School on Saturdays and Sundays.
Friday evenings 5-9 p.m. at Brownstown Middle School, Pickleball, Basketball, Walk the Indoor Track, Open Gym, Open Swim
Saturdays at Woodhaven High School, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Pickleball, Basketball, Walk the Indoor Track, Open Gym, Open Swim (adult 9 - 10 a.m.)
Sundays at Woodhaven High School, 12 noon to 4 p.m.
Pickleball, Basketball, Walk the Indoor Track, Open Gym, Open Swim (adult 12 - 1 p.m.)
We will be closed on the following dates this Fall due to school functions:

The Yake Elementary Fall Festival brought Gators - past and present - together for an afternoon of fun, laughter and community!
From pumpkin decorating and face painting to bounce houses, hayrides and plenty of treats, the annual tradition continues to be a favorite for Yake families. And some of the volunteers helping make the event happen? They’re former Gators who are coming back home to give the next generation the same memories they enjoyed as students.

What a night to be a Warrior!
The Woodhaven High School Homecoming festivities kicked off Friday afternoon with a spirited pep assembly, where Julian Cardona was crowned Homecoming King. Then the celebration continued with the Homecoming Parade at 5 p.m., as students, families, staff and community members lined the streets to cheer on the Warriors.
At 7 p.m., it was time for Friday Night Lights — and the Warriors brought the heat! 🏈
Woodhaven 34, Wyandotte 14. 💜
At halftime, the celebration continued as Senior Class President Chiamara Ogbonna was crowned Homecoming Queen. 👑
And tonight, the celebration continues as nearly 1,300 students gather at Woodhaven High School for the Homecoming Dance.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this such a memorable Homecoming — our incredible students, families, staff, the Woodhaven band, and the entire community who came out to celebrate and cheer on our Warriors.
And what a gift to have such a beautiful evening for it all. Perfect weather, school spirit, Friday night football and a community coming together.
