Mrs O'Connor and the Yake Student Council recently presented Downriver for Veterans a check for $2,750.60 which was raised from the bottle drive at Yake Elementary. 💚
A special thank you to the Woodhaven Recreation Department & 3 Nick's Tap Room for their large bottle donations to help support make our drive a success. 🎉🎉🎉

Congratulations to Cal & Kellan!
We are so proud to join Mrs. Crane, Mr. Sayen, Mrs. Garcia, Mrs. O'Connor & Mr. Lees in honoring Cal Hool and Kellan Peters as Yake's 2024 Kiwanis Youth Citizenship Award Winners! There were 4th & 5th grade recipients this year as the current 4th graders will be moving on to the WUE in the fall. Cal & Kellan were unanimous selections. They are outstanding Gators who make us all proud.

Finding equally fun and educational activities for children in the summer can be a challenge! The Detroit Zoo and Toledo Zoo make it easy. The fun of a trip to the zoo is seeing animals from across the globe and getting to learn about them. During your next trip, we encourage you to stop at each exhibit and read the posted information, explore world maps and try to learn new things.

Drumroll for our final cereal drive numbers 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Yake Elementary collected over 613 boxes of cereal, the most they've ever had! It's going to feed a ton of kids this summer! 💚
Two classes ended up collecting over 90 boxes, so TWO popsicle parties were awarded!
☆ Mrs Tevepaugh with 98 boxes
☆ Mrs Garcia with 90 boxes
A *BIG THANK YOU* to the everyone who participated.
That's Gator Pride guys!

Artwork from Wegienka Elementary student artists will hang in the WBSD Central Office this summer. We have such talented students and staff in the WBSD!

As we celebrate summer, we want to remind our district families of the services available while school is not in session over summer.
Elementary students are encouraged to spending time working on the activities in their Think Stretch workbooks and come to the check ins! All of the meet ups will be held at Woodhaven Civic Park Pavilion on Hall Road.

Third grade students at Yake Elementary School showed their knowledge of Presidents and First Ladys at the school's annual Third Grade Presidential Wax Museum. For many students, public speaking is stepping out of their comfort zone. Everyone did an amazing job staying in character and conveying the facts they learned about their President and First Lady. Great job, Gators!

On behalf on all the families & staff, please join me in thanking Mr. Crane for all the hard work he puts into Field Day, The Super Mile, The Fun Run, & the Elementary Track Meet, among so many other things he does behind the scenes and events all year long.
For event prep - he's coming in early & staying late to make big things happen for our Gators. Seeing his events in person, they run like a well-oiled machine.
He's a great coach & cheerleader to boost his student's confidence. To drive them all to their personal best, all while emphasing good sportsmanship and integrity.
