This is Mr. Podlewski writing to remind all of our families that our Halloween Parade is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning. Our parade will begin with Ms. McMahan’s class in room 1 starting at 9:20 a.m. The route will weave past our classrooms, along our media center, through the cafeteria, down to the gym, through the haunted gymnasium and back to the classrooms. Parents and grandparents will be able to watch the parade in our cafeteria, in the media center, or in the gym. Please be sure to not block the hallways as we need a route for the parade.
At the conclusion of the parade, parents will be asked to head home unless they have pre-determined plans to volunteer in a classroom. Please note that only parent volunteers will be allowed in the classrooms before, during or after the parade.
Please be kind and courteous as we know parking will be packed tomorrow morning. Please be sure to not block entrances and exits with vehicles as that makes departure even more challenging.
Please also note that we have a half-day of school on Halloween with a 12:00 p.m. dismissal. Thank you, and have a great evening.

Students Against Destructive Decisions in collaboration with other Woodhaven High School clubs, is hosting a Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 30 from 5-7 pm INSIDE Woodhaven High School. Please note that this is now indoors due to the weather forecast! Families should enter the doors by the circle entrance loop by the PBLZ and Performing Arts.
Yake Elementary School’s U.S. News Award!
We are proud to announce that Yake Elementary School is ranked #127 (up from #131 last year) out of 2,601 (Top 5%) elementary schools in the state of Michigan. For the second year in a row, we are the top ranked school in the district and in the Downriver area, with the second closest school in the district being ranked #323. In comparison to neighbor elementary schools, Meridian on Grosse Ile is ranked #611. Anderson Elementary School in Trenton is #673. I hope that all of our families are excited for our Trunk or Treat & Monster Mash Bash taking place this evening. Currently we have 65 trunks, which is our biggest yet! Please make sure that all vehicles except those preparing a trunk exit the parent's parking lot by 4:30 p.m. this afternoon. The lot will then be blocked off for families to set up trunks and for Gators to have a safe Trunk or Treat experience.

On Monday October 20th, all our pie sale forms are due in to the office.
Over the weekend please try to touch base with family, friends, and neighbors to get those last minute sales in.
Our Annual Achatz Pie Fundraiser goes a long was to help fund all the fun things we do at Yake! This helps our PTO put on events like Fall Fest, Monster Mash Bash, Santa Secret Shop, Winter Carnival, activities with our safeties, Gator Alley, assemblies (Science Alive, Anti Bulling, The Planetarium) and so much more!
If you student sells:
10 pies- they get to pie a teacher
15 pies- they get to pie a teacher & Mr Podlewski
And the top 2 sellers also get to pie our Superintendent- Mr Greathead.

I hope all my Yake Gators can join us Friday for our annual Trunk or Treat & Monster Mash Bash starting at 5pm in the Yake visitor lot!
Our Trunk or Treat starts at 5pm and requires ALL children to have a wristband. Wristbands can be purchased in advance for $5 or at the door for $7. Our PTO only accepts cash and paypal. We will also have light up toys & extra refreshments for sales, and Monster Adoptions.
We will have a DJ spinning some Spooky Fun music from 6pm to 730pm.
We have over 45 cars registered and are looking at our biggest trunk turnout yet!
Wristbands will be sent home Thursday and Friday so make sure you check those backpacks/folders.
Please make sure you only go through the line once so we have enough candy for everyone, and please leave all wagons and double strollers outside due to space constraints.
