The Yake Elementary Fall Festival brought Gators - past and present - together for an afternoon of fun, laughter and community!
From pumpkin decorating and face painting to bounce houses, hayrides and plenty of treats, the annual tradition continues to be a favorite for Yake families. And some of the volunteers helping make the event happen? They’re former Gators who are coming back home to give the next generation the same memories they enjoyed as students.

This is Mr. Podlewski calling to remind you that our annual Fall Festival is scheduled to take place on the Yake grounds from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
For the low cost of a $10.00 advanced purchase wristband, you will be able to enjoy unlimited jumbo inflatable bouncers, unlimited hay rides with Mr. Podlewski, a treat from the ice cream cart, Paint a Pumpkin, Face Painting, and a food coupon for a slice of pizza and water or lemonade. Where else can you get a deal like that for $10.00? Pre-pay wristband orders must be in by the end of the day tomorrow. Our Gator Bites were jam packed with information, as is our newsletter this week. Please click on the link below for information about Open House, the always important Teacher Assignments that will be open at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, Bus Route information, building & district calendars, Construction Zone information, Attendance Information (we want to get back over 90% attendance this year!), New Staff welcome, Yake Family Day at Kalahari (my room is booked!), Watch D.O.G.S. Dads & Pizza Night, our breakfast & lunch menus, Dress Code information, and more!

Please note that families will only be allowed to pick-up and drop-off in the parent loop unless they have a hang tag for rooms 1 & 2, which will be given out during Open House. This will be really important after school, as well for any cars in the bus loop will create a back-up that buses won't be able to get around. I would recommend that if you have a Gator in grades 3 or 4, drop them off at the gap in the fence along Tiffany and let them follow the sidewalk to their classroom doors. We will have safeties and paraprofessionals at the gap in the fence and along the sidewalk to assist students coming to school. Through this drop-off option, families can avoid the parent loop altogether.
I want to thank families for their patience as we work around construction over the next two years. In looking at Bates and Gudith, the end results will be worth the wait.

The newsletter is full of information about Open House, class assignment release date, Bus Schedules, our building calendar, construction updates, supply lists, news staff intros, our 2027 Yake Family Night (February 15, 2027) at Kalahari (book your special room rate early as our block of rooms will fill up quickly), our Watch D.O.G.S. 📌 Annual Enrollment Confirmation – Action Required
Before the 2026–27 school year begins, all parents/guardians must complete the Annual Enrollment Confirmation in Parent Connect. This quick online process ensures we have your current email, phone number, and emergency contact information in the WBSD system.
Completing this step is required before you can view your student’s teacher or class schedule.
📢 Teacher & Classroom Assignments
Available in Parent Connect starting Friday, August 28 at 4 p.m. (Elementary schools)
Exception: Woodhaven Upper Elementary and Brownstown Middle School schedules/teacher assignments will be posted Wednesday, August 26
✅ Remember: You must finish the Annual Enrollment Confirmation in Parent Connect before you’ll be able to view your student’s schedule and teacher.
