Good afternoon,

We have nearly made it through the first week of school. We have some pretty tired kindergarten and young fives Gators this afternoon. I am sure they will all sleep well tonight, as will our staff. Please take a peek at our Gator Bites for the upcoming week. You will learn more about our PTO and see some great opportunities to get involved through our PTO and Watch D.O.G.S. You will see information about upcoming events, including our first Yake Family Dinner Night at Applebee's (following our first PTO meeting on September 23rd), our always popular Fall Festival, Inclusion Week, Emergency Preparedness Drills, our Yake Family Night at Kalahari, our Attendance Incentive programs and more.

https://app.smore.com/n/de6u8

As always, please take a moment to review our Gator Bites and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

On a side note, I want to give a big "Thank you!" to our families for using the Parent Loop so well this year. Your support and patience has been very helpful and greatly appreciated.

Have a great weekend!

Good afternoon,

We are down to our last weekend before the start of school.  Please click on the link below to take a peek at our Gator Bites for the first week of school and the upcoming month.  There is a lot of information in this edition, particularly for new families.  In our Gator Bites, you will find a link to join me for reading "The Night Before Kindergarten" at 7:00 p.m. on Monday night, information about our first day of school, including pick-up and drop-off procedures, our breakfast and lunch menus, Bus Route information, including a link to help track where the buses are each day, inclement weather plans, dress code, and intro to our outstanding PTO Board, information about our first Yake Family Dinner Night to Applebee's on September 23rd, our Watch D.O.G.S. Dads & Kids Pizza Night, our Yake Family Night at Kalahari, and more.

https://app.smore.com/n/c6eu0

Again, I know there is a lot to review, but staying up to date with our Gator Bites each week is the best way to stay informed with what is happening at Yake Elementary School.  As always, please feel free to let me know if you have any questions as we prepare for the first week of the 2026.27 school year.  A year that will be bittersweet for me as my youngest daughter, Lauren will be starting her senior year.  The Woodhaven-Brownstown School District has been wonderful for my three daughters over the years and it will be for your children, as well.

With that said, have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!  I will look forward to seeing some of my Gators online Monday evening and the rest when they return to school on Tuesday morning.

Good afternoon,

Our Gators are down to their last week of summer break. I know they are excited for Open House and the start of the new school year. Our Gator Bites were jam packed with information, as is our newsletter this week. Please click on the link below for information about Open House, the always important Teacher Assignments that will be open at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, Bus Route information, building & district calendars, Construction Zone information, Attendance Information (we want to get back over 90% attendance this year!), New Staff welcome, Yake Family Day at Kalahari (my room is booked!), Watch D.O.G.S. Dads & Pizza Night, our breakfast & lunch menus, Dress Code information, and more!

https://app.smore.com/n/budhs

Please note that families will only be allowed to pick-up and drop-off in the parent loop unless they have a hang tag for rooms 1 & 2, which will be given out during Open House. This will be really important after school, as well for any cars in the bus loop will create a back-up that buses won't be able to get around. I would recommend that if you have a Gator in grades 3 or 4, drop them off at the gap in the fence along Tiffany and let them follow the sidewalk to their classroom doors. We will have safeties and paraprofessionals at the gap in the fence and along the sidewalk to assist students coming to school. Through this drop-off option, families can avoid the parent loop altogether.

I want to thank families for their patience as we work around construction over the next two years. In looking at Bates and Gudith, the end results will be worth the wait.

As always, please review our Gator Bites for the upcoming week and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. We all look forward to welcoming our Gators and their families to Open House on September 1st.

Have a great weekend!

Good evening, Yake Families,

This is Mr. Podlewski writing to remind all families that we have half-days of school on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, which are the last two days of school. On the last two days of school, our Gators will be dismissed at noon.

If your child has medication in the office, please be sure to come by the school to pick it up by the end of the day on Friday. Any medication not picked up by an adult will be discarded.

Also, please remind your Gator to double-check our lost and found. Any items not picked up by the end of the week will be bagged up and donated.

On Wednesday, all of our Gators will be sent home with report cards. ThinkStretch workbooks will be sent home with families who submitted online requests for them earlier this spring.

I hope that all of our Gators have a great last week of school and a wonderful summer break.

Thank you and have a good night.

Good afternoon,

We are right in the middle of a near perfect day for Field Day.  We have some tired Y5-1st grade Gators right now and we will have some soggy 2nd through 4th grade Gators this afternoon.  We will try and post videos and pictures to the Yake Facebook Page (click here) throughout the day.  Please join me in thanking Mr. Crane for putting on some amazing field days over the years.  He definitely helped create lasting memories for our Gators.  With that being said, please click on the link below to learn more about our last week of school.  With the Fun Run, the excellent attendance BBQ, the 4th grade breakfast and graduation, we still have some fun and special events left on the calendar.

https://app.smore.com/n/zqemg

In our newsletter, you will also find links to the 2026.27 building calendar and suggested school supply lists for the upcoming school year.  I will send out a mid-summer set of Gator Bites that will include more information about the upcoming school year.

Thank you for taking some time to read our Gator Bites throughout the year.  I hope that you and your Gator(s) had a great year!

I hope that you and your Gator(s) have a great last week of school and a wonderful summer break.
