The Woodhaven-Brownstown School District is excited to invite you to participate in a special WBSD book study, where we will be reading and discussing The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. This powerful book explores the impact of social media and other digital technologies on our children’s mental health and well-being, while providing guidance on what parents, schools, and communities can do about it. Our discussions will take place virtually for the first three meetings beginning in January with the last meeting in-person, offering participants the chance to learn from one another and gain valuable insights.

Erving Elementary students in Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Robinson and Ms. Bosman's classes took a trip to Hampton Manor today in Halloween costumes for a parade!
The student lighthouse team at Erving Elementary wanted to decorate the school with positive messages and encouraging words. They wrote their messages on an orange balloon and placed them throughout the school.

Erving Elementary Students who are part of the Student Lighthouse Team work hard each year to make a difference in their school as well as their surrounding community. After their first meeting, they not only brainstormed a list of monthly spirit days for school but monthly service projects to help the community. Their first project was to decorate lunch bags and put together lunches for the homeless.

In partnership with "Thru the Game," The Guidance Center is offering a three-part webinar series focused on youth mental health. On October 9th, we will discuss the topic of sports and its impact on mental health in our youth. It will feature former USA Olympian, Ben Pinelman, who will talk about his own personal experience and be available to answer questions. As a reminder, the State of Michigan requires public schools to take an official count of student attendance on two designated days each school year (one in October and the other in February).
