December Spirit Days

Happy Thanksgiving to our WBSD Families!

The WBSD has a great safety system, Zonar, for our bus transportation system that can be a great tool to be used by parents.
- Watch a demo video for the new Zonar MyView app here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IPVdnZPnSs
- Download the Zonar MyView app in your device’s app store.
WBSD’s Code is: WOO9929 (This is letters “W” and “OO” not numbers)
- Login to your Parent Connect and find your child’s bus route information under the Transportation tab.
If you would like to use the additional feature, the Z-Pass, you may request one by scanning the QR code or filling out this document - https://tinyurl.com/ydkj6s2p
For more information, check out your school's weekly principal communication for more on Zonar.

Third grade students from Erving and Wegienka recently visited the River Raisin National Battlefield Park in Monroe to learn more from the Wyandot native people. In third grade, students learn about Michigan Native Americans, so this field trip was a great opportunity for students to learn in a very hands-on way. Every year, the Wyandot people, some traveling from Oklahoma and Canada, come to the River Raisin Battlefield to teach our students about their culture.
Our students learned about the music, traditions, government, and family life of the indigenous people and explored how they used natural resources. They had hands-on experiences in a longhouse and wigwam, and they even got to make wampum belts in the newly created Wampum Room.
When students were asked to rate their experience from 1 to 5, many enthusiastically gave it a 10! The beautiful fall weather added to the experience, allowing them to participate in an Indian removal simulation, try using a lacrosse stick, and grind corn into cornmeal the traditional way. The River Raisin National Battlefield team really outdoes themselves each year, and this visit was no exception!
