Your voice matters - thank you for helping shape the future of Woodhaven-Brownstown School District.

In the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District, we are so grateful for our three outstanding SROs:
👮‍♂️ Raul Villarreal of the Woodhaven Police Department
👮‍♂️ Joe Mathews of the Brownstown Township Police Department
👮‍♂️ Bob McNamera of the Brownstown Township Police Department
School Resource Officers are so much more than law enforcement. They are mentors, educators, informal counselors, role models, and trusted adults. They build relationships, create safe learning environments, and help bridge the gap between students and law enforcement in meaningful ways.
Thank you, SRO Villarreal, SRO Mathews, and SRO McNamera, for the care, protection, guidance, and presence you bring to our schools each day. Our students, staff, and families are better because of you. đź’™

Through 7th Grade Exploratory Technology and 8th Grade Career Tech, taught by James (Jim) Walrad, students are learning that technology is more than entertainment—it’s a powerful tool for their future.
From digital citizenship and responsible social media use to early career exploration in fields like cybersecurity, business, and entrepreneurship, these classes help students build awareness, confidence, and direction. Project-based learning encourages creativity, empathy, and problem-solving, while real conversations about online behavior and digital footprints prepare students for what’s ahead.
“Helping students realize they can start preparing for their careers right now is incredibly rewarding,” Walrad shared. “Their creativity and ideas are amazing.”
By empowering students early, these courses ensure they leave middle school informed, inspired, and ready to make thoughtful choices about their future.
