After working hard and having completed their stress management presentations, Life Skills students at Brownstown Middle School were able to practice some of the strategies they learned while rotating through stress management stations (art and creativity, movement, relaxation, journaling, and charades.)
Students learned and put into practice ways to manage your stress and anger, in a healthy, productive way.

Erving Elementary Students who are part of the Student Lighthouse Team work hard each year to make a difference in their school as well as their surrounding community. After their first meeting, they not only brainstormed a list of monthly spirit days for school but monthly service projects to help the community. Their first project was to decorate lunch bags and put together lunches for the homeless.

MONDAY MOTIVATION: The Brownstown Middle School Service Squad kicked off the 2024-25 school year with their first project recently. Their first initiative was to send words of praise and positivity to as many members of the WBSD community as possible. The group discussed how the district is made up of many important people - from administration and teachers to the bus drivers who bring students to school. We are all part of a team, and we have so much to be grateful for!

Students in AP Biology (Mrs. Pratt) and AP Environmental Science (Mrs. Coch) recently took a field trip to the Friends of the Detroit River Detroit River Water Festival. Students had the opportunity to work with macroinvertebrates, learned about urban forestry, DTE’s Water Management Programs as well as take canoe trips to learn about the ecosystem. Students at Woodhaven High School have the opportunity to choose from 20 different Advanced Placement classes.

New to the Community Enrichment Lineup is Drop-in Open Coed Volleyball on Fridays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Brownstown Middle School.
These free programs are open to Woodhaven or Brownstown residents, district employees and WBSD students and their families. These programs are held indoors at Brownstown Middle School.

In partnership with "Thru the Game," The Guidance Center is offering a three-part webinar series focused on youth mental health. On October 9th, we will discuss the topic of sports and its impact on mental health in our youth. It will feature former USA Olympian, Ben Pinelman, who will talk about his own personal experience and be available to answer questions. COUNT DAY IS TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY, October 2! Let’s make it COUNT!
As a reminder, the State of Michigan requires public schools to take an official count of student attendance on two designated days each school year (one in October and the other in February).
