🕵️‍♂️✨ Recently, something mysterious unfolded in 8th grade ELA at BMS!

Mrs. Konal, Ms. Olah, and Mrs. Hunter’s classes took part in a Murder Mystery activity where students became detectives and suspects - collecting clues, conducting interrogations, and working together to solve “who dunnit.”

From dramatic character readings to intense questioning, our 8th graders brought incredible energy and creativity to the activity. Next up: writing a CER (Claim-Evidence-Reasoning) paragraph to reveal their conclusions!

📸 Check out some photos of our investigators hard at work!

🌟 Making a GREAT First Impression at Erving Elementary! 🌟

Recently, our 3rd graders teamed up with 2nd graders to learn about S.P.E.C.I.A.L. — an easy way to remember the steps to making a positive first impression when meeting someone new.

📖 Third graders read the book SPECIAL to their 2nd grade friends and even gifted them their own copy so they could keep learning and share the lesson with others!

✨ S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stands for:
🤝 Shake hands
💪 Posture
👀 Eye contact
😊 Charm
🙋 Introduce yourself
❓ Ask a question
👂 Lean in and listen

We love seeing our students build confidence, kindness, and connection - skills that will last a lifetime!

On September 17, the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District joins in observing Constitution Day—the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. For more than 230 years, this historic document has served as the foundation of our nation’s democracy.

Today, we celebrate the principles of liberty, justice, and equality that continue to guide us, and we recognize those who have taken the meaningful step of becoming United States citizens.
As educators, we take this opportunity to inspire our students to explore the Constitution, understand its impact, and reflect on the rights and responsibilities it grants us all.

Something pretty exciting happened at Woodhaven Upper Elementary! Michigan’s Teacher of the Year, Corey Rosser, stopped by to tour the school, meet with staff, and even try his hand at a new skill with our 5th grade choir students 🎶🥁

Want to see what he was up to and how our very own Region 9 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Jaskolski, is representing WUE on the state level? 👉 Read the full story here: https://www.mywbsd.org/article/2421649

Today, the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District joins our nation in honoring and remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001. On this Patriot Day, we reflect on the courage, resilience, and unity that carried us through one of our nation’s darkest days.

As educators and community members, we have the responsibility to teach our students the values of compassion, strength, and togetherness—reminding them of the heroes who gave everything and the families who continue to carry their legacy.

Together, we stand united in remembrance and in hope for a future built on peace and understanding. 🕊️
