Students, families and staff have access to mental health care coordination and expanded assistance locating essential community services at no cost.

Woodhaven, MI – For the past six years, Woodhaven-Brownstown School District has partnered with Care Solace to help students, families and staff overcome barriers to accessing mental health care. Now, that partnership is expanding to provide families with assistance locating a broader range of critical community resources, including food, shelter, dental care and other health and social services.

Care Solace is a social purpose organization focused on helping individuals navigate the often-complex process of finding care and community resources. Through its care coordination services, WBSD families and staff can receive personalized assistance identifying resources that fit their individual needs, at no cost to them.

“Since the height of the pandemic almost six years ago, Woodhaven-Brownstown’s partnership with Care Solace has been essential in connecting our students, staff and families to vital mental health support they might not otherwise have,” said Jenny Lauterbach, Director of Special Services for WBSD. “Ensuring our community has quick, reliable access to care remains a top priority for the district, and we’re proud to continue this meaningful partnership. With the addition of services to help families locate critical resources such as food, shelter and dental care, Care Solace is now able to provide even more support to our community.”

As a central hub for care and resource navigation, Care Solace helps streamline the process of finding appropriate services. Families can receive assistance identifying resources based on their individual circumstances and needs, helping remove some of the barriers that can make finding support difficult.

Through its network and team of multilingual Care Companions, Care Solace connects individuals with more than 700,000 licensed mental health and substance use treatment providers. Care Companions help individuals navigate the mental health care system and identify options that align with their needs and insurance requirements.

In addition to mental health and substance use resources, the expanded services can help families locate community resources addressing essential needs such as food, shelter, dental care and other health and social services.

“Care Solace is proud to support Woodhaven-Brownstown School District in prioritizing the well-being of its students, staff and community,” said Chad Castruita, Founder and CEO of Care Solace. “Care Solace exists to calm the chaos that often surrounds mental health challenges and other critical needs, providing a supportive and compassionate framework to help individuals regain control of their lives.”

The continued partnership reflects WBSD’s commitment to supporting the whole child and whole family. By helping connect community members with resources that address both mental health and essential needs, the district is working to ensure families have access to the support they need to thrive.
