WOODHAVEN, MI – The Woodhaven-Brownstown School District (WBSD) Board of Education is proud to announce the appointment of Jenny Lauterbach as the new Director of Special Services beginning on July 1. A veteran educator with over two decades of service to the district, Lauterbach steps into the role previously held by Matt Salah, who was recently named the district’s incoming Superintendent.

Lauterbach’s appointment marks a seamless transition for the Special Services department. With 23 years of dedicated experience within WBSD, she has built a reputation as a pragmatic leader and a fierce advocate for student-centered education.

Lauterbach’s career at Woodhaven-Brownstown is defined by her "deep-rooted" history and upward trajectory through the district’s ranks. Her diverse background includes:

  • Special Education Teacher: Providing direct classroom instruction and support.

  • Department Head: Leading faculty and streamlining curriculum.

  • Supervisor of Special Services: Managing Birth-26 programming and ensuring rigorous state and federal compliance.

Her leadership is backed by an impressive academic foundation focused on administrative excellence:

  • Education Specialist (Ed.S.): Administration and Supervision – Wayne State University

  • Master’s Degree: Eastern Michigan University

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Concordia University

In her most recent role as Special Services Supervisor, Lauterbach was instrumental in fostering collaborative partnerships between the district, local families, and community agencies. Her expertise in managing the complexities of special education programming ensures that WBSD remains a leader in inclusive excellence.
