Maple Grove Alternative High School

Mission Statement

Through our blended learning approach, we strive to remove barriers by providing hope, encouragement, and support for those students whose lives do not give them the opportunity to take advantage of the traditional Woodhaven-Brownstown School District model.

Our Program

Maple Grove Alternative High School allows students to learn at their own pace by completing online courses from home.  While traditional public high schools require 22 or more credits to earn a high school diploma, Maple Grove requires 18 credits in subjects required by the State of Michigan.

We understand that the traditional school setting does not work for all students and we hope that the flexibility provided by Maple Grove allows students to still graduate with a high school diploma and move on to the next chapter of their lives.

Credits

Students must fulfill the requirements of the Michigan Merit Curriculum which requires 18 credits.

Please note, these are specific requirements and not all classes taken in a previous high school may transfer and be applied to the 18 credits required to fulfill the Michigan Merit Curriculum.  Upon enrollment, you will be provided with a MGAHS Plan of Work that notes specific requirements.

Flexibility

Attendance will be based on student progress within their class and hours logged. Students are required to come into the Learning Lab at Woodhaven High School once per week to check in with their mentor, complete assessments, and/or get support.
