oKinder Lit Lab is for newly enrolled Kindergarten students. The Lit Lab is a four-week program that aims to get our students Kindergarten ready for the classroom. Certified teachers and a paraprofessional will be assigned to each class which will focus on routine and a positive learning experience for incoming students. There are 15 seats available at each elementary school for this program.
oEach student in grades K-5 will be provided with a summer Think Stretch workbook, which will provide weekly math, reading, science, social studies, and STEM activities. Throughout the summer, there will be five check-in events, which will be opportunities for all elementary students to come together to celebrate summer (Kona Ice, bounce house, petting farms, fun and games) and to show their teachers the progress they’ve made within their summer workbook.

oThe district’s collaboration with the City of Woodhaven Parks and Recreation Department continues this summer! Each elementary school provides free admission to the parks and recreation programming to 60 students. The selected students not only participate in the Parks and Recreation activities, but they also receive academic support in reading and math from WBSD staff three days a week to fill in the gaps of summer learning loss.
Elementary (4th – 5th Grade)
oWBSD is looking forward to partnering with The Guidance Center to provide our 4th and 5th grade students a unique opportunity to attend their Leadership Program. This program, new to WBSD, is scheduled for one day per week at each of the five elementary schools from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Some of the topics to be covered are collaboration, teamwork, goal setting and stress management.
Middle School (6th – 8th Grade)
oWBSD has developed an 8-week summer enrichment program for students in grades 6th – 8th grade which will provide STEM, SEL, math, and reading support on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This program will be run by WBSD staff and held at PHMS.
High School (9th – 12th Grade)
oThe traditional E2020 Credit Recovery program will be held at WHS to allow students the ability to earn credits towards graduation. For more information, please contact WHS Counseling Office, for more information and registration.
oWBSD have developed a partnership with The Guidance Center to provide a Workforce Training class which will span throughout the summer on Mondays. This class will focus on employability skills such as enthusiasm and attitude, goal setting, and resume building to name a few.
