    Francesca’s Pizzeria is providing opportunity for students one slice at a time

    Though a new business to Brownstown, Francesca’s Brick Oven Pizzeria has already made its presence felt in the community through its donation of free pizza for events and sponsorship of sports teams at the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District (WBSD). Owners Francesca and Rami Elawadi feel strongly about giving back to the community, especially to their children’s school and have made the relationship to the district a priority.

    Partnering with local organizations to provide engaging recreational opportunities for students

    At Woodhaven-Brownstown School District (WBSD), we value the community partners that step forward to collaborate with us as we bring growth and development opportunities to our students. Sometimes our partners provide us with funding to purchase materials for classroom activities while others, like the Brownstown Recreation Department and Woodhaven Recreation Department, organize events and after-school activities to keep students’ minds and bodies active.

    The Kiwanis Club of Woodhaven works to advance educational opportunities through donations, service
    projects and fundraisers to help meet needs in the community and around the world. Since its inception
    in 1976, Woodhaven Kiwanis and Woodhaven-Brownstown School District (WBSD) have partnered to
    support children in the community. Over the years, Woodhaven Kiwanis has provided WBSD with more
    than $150,000 of resources, including school funding, products and games.

    How Chicken Sandwiches Provide Resources to WBSD

    When the Woodhaven Chick-fil-A opened in October 2021, one of the first things it did was partner with WBSD. Cody Gibson, owner and operator, comes from a family involved in education, so it was a no-brainer to announce the grand opening of the restaurant at a Woodhaven High School home football game. We are grateful for their support and look forward to continuing the partnership in the coming years.
