Code of Conduct

  • Welcome to the athletic programs of the Woodhaven‐Brownstown School District. We are excited to have you join the program and be a part of our Era of Excellence. This excellence extends well beyond winning and losing; it is defined by our core beliefs in Character, Community, Competition, Commitment, and Communication.

Participation in the WBSD athletic programs is a privilege. Student‐athletes have a responsibility of holding themselves to a higher standard of conduct. From the first day a student‐athlete begins trying out for any team, and continuing throughout his/her entire interscholastic athletic career, all WBSD student‐athletes are responsible for complying with the rules of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) and the Athletic Code of Conduct, applicable 365 days a year, on or off school premises, and not limited to school sponsored activities.

As such, all student‐athletes must comply with the following:
    - The WBSD Student Code of Conduct
    - Refrain from the use, sale, or possession of illegal drugs at any time or place
    - Refrain from the use, sale, or possession of tobacco and/or e‐cigarette products or paraphernalia at any time or place
    - Refrain from the use, sale, or possession of alcohol at any time or place
    - Refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct or any action which would bring disgrace upon the school or the team

Each coach may establish and enforce additional rules and penalties. These rules must be in writing, approved by the Athletic Director, and shared with all participating students and parents.

Violations of the Athletic Code of Conduct will be cumulative during a student’s interscholastic athletic career. The first violation of the Athletic Code of Conduct will be considered the first offense when determining the consequence. When a second violation of the Athletic Code of Conduct occurs, regardless of the offense, the second offense consequence will be imposed. Upon a third offense of any of the codes, then the third offense will be applied. Middle school (grades 6 – 8) offenses/consequences will not carry over to high school.
